Toxic Mold
You can have the cleanest house in the world and still be affected by toxic mold in your home. Older homes are more susceptible, but newer homes can be affected, as well. Mold grows in moist conditions. The drier your home is, the less likely any dangerous mold will develop. But, not matter how clean and dry, mold can still grow.
Where does Toxic Mold grow?
Kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms are typically damp. This is the most likely place for mold to grab hold. If you spot a speck of mold, clean the area with bleach right away and dry it thoroughly. This will kill the bacteria and prevent toxic mold from developing. Once mold has a solid foundation, getting rid of it is nearly impossible.

The tiniest spores left alive can grow and flourish in no time. Once a strong base is developed it will take professional equipment to kill every little speck of mold. No matter how vigilant your efforts, chances of killing all of the deep down mold spores are rare.
Why are Older Homes More Susceptible to Toxic Mold
An older house has seen many seasons, many harsh winters and many wet, soggy springs and autumns. With each passing year more moisture builds up and seeps deeper into the pores of the wood and cement. Moisture is the prime breeding ground for mold and mildew. No mold is healthy, but some are more toxic than others.
Black mold is one of the most toxic forms of house hold and workplace mold. Yes, your place of employment could very well have hazardous mold deposits hidden in small, forgotten nooks and crannies.
Dangers of Mold
In most cases mold is not any more dangerous to you than dust. People affected the most already have prior breathing or lung problems. Other people likely to be affected are those with severe allergies. If you are prone to hives or other types of rashes, coming into contact with mold could cause a break-out.
If you have asthma or some other respiratory problems any floating irritants, like pollen, dust, smoke or mold spores can make you very ill. Someone with a low immunity tolerance is also susceptible to ill effects of mold. Highly toxic mold is liable to make even the healthiest people ill.
Deadly Mold
You have to be exposed to the most toxic mold, in high quantities and for a very long time before it will kill you. Unlike dust and smoke, mold is hardly every deadly unless you have a preexisting condition. Mold can make your chronic bronchitis ten times worse than it was. Your asthma symptoms will be triple-fold. If you develop pneumonia the medication that normally clears it up will not work if you are exposed to above average amounts of mold.
In and of itself, brief exposure to mold will rarely kill you. But, just like overexposure to any toxins, can leave lasting effects. You may develop lung problems or skin rashes, it may cause birth defects in your unborn children or cause serious problems to your nervous system. Don’t live with toxic mold. The effects of toxic mold down the road are not worth the risk.
